Dealing with anxiety and depression
Life is getting harder every day. Anxiety, tension, and stress are building. People are feeling more depressed now-a-day. Many techniques are being suggested to cope with this excessive stress by specialists and psychiatrists. The reality is, we cannot escape from anxiety fully. But we can deal with it.
Anxiety is a mental state. It is natural for us to feel a bit of stress before an exam or a performance. And frankly, a little stress is good for us. It makes us concerned about the performance and takes out the best from us. But if we feel stressed more than usual, that is anxiety. Anxiety works in a very different way. And the worst part of it is, you can’t fight it when it kicks in. So what is the system to get yourself free from anxiety?
“Don’t give it the chance to kick in,” – psychologists say. That’s the best way to control your anxiety. Remain calm. Make peace with your mind. To do that, they have suggested various ways.
First, change your lifestyle. Avoid things that make you anxious. Start with food. Coffee, sugar, and alcohol are known to induce anxiety in a person. So avoid these foods. Instead eat foods that are high in minerals, antioxidants, and GABA. These ingredients will calm your nerves and help you to get a good night’s sleep. Physical exercise, deep breathing techniques, and sound sleep are particularly helpful to be in a peaceful state of mind. Do what you love to do. Avoid phones, computers, and other such mediums if you are feeling anxious. Just lean back and relax. Everything’s going to be just fine. Meditation is another elegant way to cope with this anxiety.
Remember, you cannot control everything in this world. So it’s worthless to be anxious about them. Anxiety doesn’t bring anything good to your life. So when you feel anxious, be with your family and do what you like.
